Essay Editing Tecniques

If you need an essay editing help, please read this article where all processes of essay editing are described.

Directions:
1- Share your document to your partner on Google Docs, or trade computers. Make sure you mark “Track Changes” under the “Review Tab” on your menu. If your peer’s paper is written or typed and cannot be accessed on a computer you may use an essay editing help kit.

2- Using “track changes” go through your peer’s paper checking for:
– Grammar/usage Punctuation Spelling Paragraph Structure
– Capitalization Sentence Structure Uses only 3rd person (no: I, we, me, our, my, you, us, your)

3-Complete the following chart in regards to your essay:
Thesis Statement
After locating the thesis statement write it here:

Is the thesis statement clear?
Is it placed correctly?

Body Paragraph 1
Supports and shows clear understanding of the thesis statement?
Uses logical reasoning, examples, and direct quotations to support claim?
Uses at least 1 piece of textual evidence that supports claim?
Citations are used correctly where needed?

Body Paragraph 2
Supports and shows clear understanding of the thesis statement?
Uses logical reasoning, examples, and direct quotations to support claim?

Body Paragraph 3
Supports and shows clear understanding of the thesis statement?
Uses logical reasoning, examples, and direct quotations to support claim?

Citations are used correctly where needed?

Counter-argument/Rebuttal
Recognizes the opposite side of the argument?
Rebuts the argument, does NOT agree with it and ended up sounding wishy washy?
Citations are used correctly where needed?

Conclusion
Does not simply repeat the introductory paragraph but does it in a new way?
Fully summarizes the three claims made in research paper, in other words addresses the claims stated in the thesis?

Essay Editing is meant to be helpful as well used as a tool to enhance the students own writing.
